Commencement will take place in David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, rain or shine, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Graduates and guests are encouraged to plan accordingly. Graduates and guests may need sunblock, light jackets, hats and/or rain gear depending on the forecast.
If severe weather is in the forecast for 10:30 a.m. (thunderstorms with lightning, high winds, heavy or prolonged rain or risk of tornadoes), University administrators will decide to postpone the beginning of the ceremony until 12:30 p.m.
If postponement is necessary, the University of Kansas will announce a decision by 9 a.m. on the following media outlets:
- alert.ku.edu and twitter.com/KUnews and https://twitter.com/KUalumni
- KU Info
- Radio stations KJHK-FM, 90.7; KPR-FM, 91.5; KLZR-FM, 105.9; WIBW-AM, 580; KMBZ-AM, 980; and KLWN-AM, 1320
- Student cell phones who have opted-in to receive alert notifications
In the event of a 12:30 p.m. ceremony, graduates will assemble on Memorial Drive at noon.
If weather conditions worsen once the ceremony begins, guests should listen to the public address system and/or social media for announcements.
Unfortunately, if the ceremony cannot begin by 12:30 p.m., the University of Kansas will regrettably cancel the ceremony. This has not happened in recent memory.
Safety for the University of Kansas graduates and guests is our number one priority!
